I'm a really safe cyclist, I wear high-vis, have loads of lights, a helmet, I'm always checking behind me, I always indicate, and I've always been completely safe.

So it'll be a bit of a surprise for me to tell you that I had an accident today! Some boy racer tried to speed past and overtake me on his child-size BMX, swerved inwards to avoid the car driving alongside us and completely smashed into me.

We ended up in a complete tangled mess on the pavement - luckily not the busy road - it was pretty shocking!.

I'm probably going to be a bit bruised but I'm fine, though I can't say the same for my bike.The front brake snapped and needs replacing, my back wheel needs truing and my front wheel is a complete write off. All because of that idiot!

I can't even afford the repairs, I've left it in the shop and now I'm filling out a short term loan application, please Wonga.com, grant me some money until payday!
